  •  Hey! Are you going to the Nantahala Outdoor Center's Gear Swap next month?? I think it's Sept 24th and 25th.

  •  John, thank you so very much for the wonderful experience you provided Noreena and me on Wednesday. Your great teaching style made learning seem easy. But your wonderful personality made it all the much more fun and enjoyable. I thought you couldn't teach an old dog new tricks but you proved this old dog wrong. Like Noreena said we are hooked and will be seeing you and the group much more in the future. Thanks again turning us on to this great sport!

  •  ATLANTA - An Atlanta man says he was recovering Friday from an arm wound after a beaver attacked him near Lake Lanier.

Russ McTindal said he was fishing with friends just below the Buford Dam Thursday when a 30-pound beaver started biting him without provocation.

McTindal said he got a deep puncture wound on his lower right arm and is now receiving the rabies vaccine.

  •  I paddle a canoe and travel with my two dogs. We are looking for cooler easy trips where we can primitively camp along a river.etc. Is the TN Blueway a good option for a relatively inexperienced lone paddler? Do you have any suggestions?

  •  John, thank you SOOOO much for being such a great teacher yesterday. We had fun and really enjoyed the class. And I learned a lot! How does Sunday Sept 12 sound for the next one? I'm afraid it will just be too hot in August.... and our calendar is pretty booked. Anyway, let me know what you think about that date.

  •  John, can you please send a note to our group members who are taking the class in the morning (or just post a comment on the Event Description page) giving directions from the Woodstock area to CRNRA Johnson Ferry. I have never been there and don't seem to see directions on the Event Description page. Thanks, Celeste.

  •  Funny you should mention that; when I went "swimming" in the Hooch today, I thought just the same thing! Luckily my paddling buddy is very skilled and rescued the new boat!

Is the class on Saturday that is posted on the other meetup the one that you teach? I may sign up for Saturday.

  •  Thanks for the input, John. After a couple of others weighed in, I took the 140 back and traded it for a 120. Still has all of the newest features, but I think I will be able to handle it better.

  •  I had an amazing time today--the boat paddles like a dream! But I am questioning my choice as not being versatile enough; the guy at the shop said it was a pretty good all-purpose boat (not whitewater, of course) but Marie says anything over 10 feet is too big to even do the Metro Hooch! Any thoughts??

  •  I went to Go with the Flow in Roswell. I had been shopping online and had more or less decided on Wilderness Expeditions' Pungo 120, but somehow I left there with a 140! Not really a beginner's boat, I guess, but I figured I might as well get one that would last a while.

  •  Hi John, You are right. I was trained by a really great instructor!

  •  Welcome John! We hope we'll get to meet you soon. I know you're a super-experienced paddler. If you see any errors in my event descriptions -- or if you have ideas for fun river trips for us, please let me know. We hope to meet you soon!

  •  Hi John, I'm trying to coordinate a Sunday paddle with Gordon, and possibly camping after the Saturday event. I'll let you know if it comes together http://www.flintriverkeeper.org/calen...

  •  Hi John; I'm leading a fishing trip on Sat, May 1 at 10 am at Rainbow Ranch in Buford. It's really close to Up the River. It's a kid's trip. Maybe you would like to offer a half day parent/child kayak lesson in the afternoon? What do you think? Would 12:30 or 1pm be too late to start a kayak trip? Cathy

  •  Hi John, I look forward to seeing you, too. I'd love to cross post events with AAP. I plan to schedule a bunch more, after I see how these 1st 5 events go... I'm also cross posting with GCA.
Just let me know how... [masked]
