Skip Work and SHOOT THE HOOCH!

IMPORTANT!!!!! IMPORTANT!!!! IMPORTANT! READ THE ENTIRE ANNOUNCEMENT

The dam release schedule changes daily and is not released until midnight. We never know until the day of a paddle what time the water will be released. So far this summer the release has not stopped many of our early paddles but they often interfere with the afternoon trips. If you are planning a 2:00 trip you really should call Up the River, [masked], the day of the event to check the release. Also be aware, many people who sign up for these trips do not show up so it is possible that when you get to the outfitter for either paddle, you may be the only person there. If you are uncomfortable paddling alone, make sure you have friends with you.

Every Tuesday for the rest of the summer, Up the River Outfitters is sponsoring a weekday paddle.

Be at UTR at 9:00 to leave by 9:30 for the trip from Buford Dam to Settles Bridge. This is about 4 miles and averages 2-4 hours depending on how long you play at BIG ROCK along the way and if you stop for lunch.

Be at UTR at 2:00 to leave by 2:30 for the trip from Settles Bridge to Abbotts Bridge. This is about 8 miles and takes from 4-5 hours on average.

The waters below Buford Dam are cold and clear. You can watch fish swimming under your boat. Blue Herons abound and if you do not see the beavers, you can see their handiwork.

The dam release schedule changes daily at midnight so please call ahead the morning of the paddle to check the times, Up the River, 770-614-3322.

Since this is a weekday paddle, if you want to guarantee that you have someone to paddle with, bring a friend or two.

Cost of this trip is $20 and it includes the boat and shuttle service.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put in the remarks if you are coming at 9:00 am or 2:00 pm and if you need a boat or will be bringing your own. Thanks.
